Beginner friendly projects

Beginner friendly projects

In our Web Dev and Data Science Bootcamps, we require anyone wanting to join to complete a project prior to being accepted.

We’ve made both of these projects public so that you can play around with them and see if either Web Development or Data Science is something that interests you.

What’s cool about these projects is that they direct your learning to a specific goal (aka completing the project). The alternative of just following along with tutorials with no real outcome in mind can often feel demotivating.

Data Science Project

If you’re curious about the world of Data Science, we’ve created a beginner friendly project where you’ll analyze data from international football (ie soccer) results from 1872 to 2023 and answer some questions such as “which country has the highest overall FIFA World Cup goals” with some cool tools that you’ll learn how to use.

You can check out the project here.

If you ever decide to apply to our Data Science Bootcamp, you’ll be able to expedite the process if you’ve already completed your project.

Web Development Project

For Web Development, we actually have you build a fun little website with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It’s a nice challenge and most people have a lot of fun working on it.

My only advice if you decide to work on this is to not overlook the JavaScript portion. Many people spend far too much time on the HTML/CSS, but as a Web Developer, you will spend far more time working with a programming language like JavaScript.

You can check out the project here.

Just like the other project above, if you decide to apply to our Web Development Bootcamp, you’ll be able to expedite the process if you’ve already completed your project.

PS: If you decide to give either of these a try and want to know if you got the answers right, feel free to email us with your responses and we’ll do our best to take a look.

About the author

Hey, I'm Kevin 👋🏼

I appreciate you so much for being here! My name's Kevin and I'm the founder of Journey Education. Our company builds innovative educational products that helps people unlock their potential - much like this bootcamp that we built in partnership with Concordia 😍.

Ever since I landed my first job in tech in my early 20s, I fell in love with the industry. I love the vibrant yet relaxed workplace cultures, the flexibility to work from anywhere in the world, the people you get to meet and work with, the very fair wages, and the opportunity you're given to build digital products that can potentially be used my millions of people.

This project has been a huge passion of mine since we started in back in 2014. Our mission at the time, and in fact still is - to give people an accelerated path to a career in tech.

Concordia Bootcamps is built and run with people who share this same energy and passion as I do. I'm so excited to help you break into tech!
